The year of nominations and awards

That day Dubrovnik County Center received a call of
tourist in distress who was with four other kayakers trapped on the rocks of
island Kalamota (Koločep) due to the stormy sea.The first to come to the scene
were Emergensea operators who immediately started the rescue operation. After
dragging out the first two kayakers from wavy sea reaching at moments 4-5m
amplitudes, the team was exhausted and endangered to continue the salvage on
their own so they called the Harbour Master Dubrovnik for help. Upon their
arrival with the vessel Danče the operation continued in a way that other three
kayakers were pulled out by the rope and lifebuoys. Due to the strong wind and
waves breaking against the rocks it was an extremely tough operation to bring
them all to safety without injury. Once it all finished, besides the obvious stress,
an endless happiness and gratitude could be seen in the faces of the rescued
tourists.
This awarded operation is one example of excellent
cooperation between private initiative Emergensea and public services in
protection and rescue. In recent years Emergensea is constantly on service to
government agencies for search and rescue and the goal in the future is to
bring this cooperation to a very high level of performance.
Beside
the rescue operation in Koločep not less important to mention was the action of
rescue of 12 members of the crew (of which 6 young children), whose boat was
cought in severe storm and saved a few meters before it wracked on the shore of
island Hvar. This heroic action was led by Emergensea base Makarska, skipper Stane
Sumić who did not hesitate to go out on a rough sea on his own knowing that all
police and capitanery boats were already engaged and he was the only hope for
the endageroud crew. On SAR headquarters
proposal this action was also nominated for the award "Plava vrpca Vjesnika 2015”
